Aerosol School 2023 Virtual is now available. Upon registration, private YouTube links to the presentations will be sent to you by email.
Aerosol School is an intensive three day curriculum designed to provide the didactic background and practical laboratory hands-on experience to quantify and characterize medical aerosols. Upon completion of the program, participants should understand the measurements and techniques utilized in commercial pharmaceutical and biotech laboratories as well as academic research. The curriculum is a perfect primer for anyone interested in measurements of medical aerosols, whether for industry or clinical research.

Aerosol School Offers Insight Into The World Of Medical Aerosols
The ISAM/St Joseph's Healthcare/McMaster University Firestone Institute for Respiratory Health's (FIRH) Aerosol School is a three day teaching program, led by Prof. Myrna Dolovich, offering expert information and training in the field of medical aerosols. Through the program, participants learn the range of measurements, techniques and approaches to drug development and inhaler design used in academic laboratories and pharmaceutical industry aerosol labs. In 2018, the program ran from October 3rd to 5th with faculty members representing aerosol scientists, engineers and clinicians. The program offers a wealth of knowledge through the two components of the program: lectures and in-lab learning. Program fees, which are waived for up to five students, cover copies of the course material, a USB key that contains more information and a 1-year membership in the International Society of Aerosol Medicine (ISAM). ISAM is comprised of aerosol experts who are dedicated to all aspects of aerosol research in medicine.
In the eleven years that this program has been running, approximately 225 students have completed the training, many of whom have come from as near as the USA and as far away as Sweden, Brazil, Mexico, UK and Taiwan.

In its 8th year, Aerosol School continues to evolve
Going into its 8th year, the annual Aerosol School at McMaster University in Hamilton, Ontario, Canada has added several new topics while continuing to provide a comprehensive basic education in aerosol medicines, says founder Myrna Dolovich. In addition to instruction in OINDP devices, formulation, and testing methods, the school curriculum is keeping up with recent trends and providing a glimpse into the future by adding instruction in areas such as human factors, nasal delivery of peptides, and nanomedicine.
Co-sponsored by the McMaster University Firestone Institute for Respiratory Health, St. Joseph's Healthcare, and the International Society for Aerosols in Medicine (ISAM), the 2016 Aerosol School will take place October 5-7." Read more...
Aerosol School Offers Comprehensive Introduction To Inhaled And Nasal Drugs
In early April, up to 20 scientists, technicians, and students from around the world will gather in a laboratory at the Firestone Institute for Respiratory Health in Hamilton, Ontario, Canada for an intensive course known as "Aerosol School." Over a three-day period, the 20 participants from industry and academia will learn the basics of aerosol medicine formulation, testing, and delivery.
The goal, explains school founder Myrna Dolovich, is for the participants "to come away with a basic understanding of therapeutic aerosols, considerations for formulation of different types of powders and liquids, how to run the necessary tests for development and registration, and what goes into development of an aerosol delivery device." After that, she says, "they should be able to take the next steps on their own." Read more...
